Founders ask “How much does an MVP cost?” the way travelers ask “How much is a trip?” — the only honest answer starts with destination and duration. This guide explains how Vesta Design thinks about MVP scope and cost for web-based products, with ranges you can take to a board meeting without the theater.
What we mean by MVP
A minimum viable product is the smallest shippable slice that tests a risky assumption with real users. It is not a half-styled clone of a competitor. It is not “all modules at 60%”. If you cannot name the assumption, you are budgeting a v1 product suite — price accordingly.
What moves cost
- Number of distinct user roles and permissions.
- Auth complexity (magic link vs SSO vs org multi-tenant).
- Payments, tax, and invoice rules.
- Realtime features, file pipelines, or AI features with ongoing token cost.
- Design system from scratch vs template-plus-brand.
- Compliance (PII, audit logs) and environments (staging, CI).
- Who writes copy and provides domain decisions day to day.
Honest range framing (USD, web MVP)
These are order-of-magnitude anchors for a focused web MVP with a Vietnam-based senior-led team — not a bid and not a guarantee:
- Validation landing + waitlist + basic analytics: often closer to a high-end marketing build (hundreds to low thousands).
- Single-role web app with CRUD, auth, and one integrations: commonly mid four figures to low five figures depending on UX polish.
- Multi-tenant SaaS slice with billing: plan for a serious five-figure engagement once you include edge cases.
On our public English pages we also publish simpler site packages from about $200 / $520 / $1,000+ for marketing and ecommerce scopes — useful when your “MVP” is actually a revenue site, not an application. Application work is quoted after discovery. See MVP development and SaaS web development.
What to cut first
- Secondary roles — serve one persona end-to-end.
- Custom charts when a CSV export unblocks learning.
- Native mobile wrappers before web retention is proven.
- Dark-mode and animation budgets.
- “AI everywhere” without a measured workflow.
Promises we will not make
We will not guarantee App Store featuring, viral growth, fundraising outcomes, or fixed ROAS. We will not staff a fantasy timeline that ignores your content and decision latency. If another vendor guarantees those, ask what clause pays you when they miss.
A clean engagement shape
Discovery (fixed) → build milestones with demo every 1–2 weeks → soft launch checklist → maintenance retainer if you want us in the loop. You own the repo. Secrets stay in your vault. Documentation is part of done.
Send your assumption, user, and deadline to info@vestadesign.com.vn. We will either propose a slice — or tell you to keep the work in-house.
Discovery outputs worth paying for
A useful discovery ends with: problem statement, user journeys, prioritized backlog, risks, architecture sketch, milestone plan, and a cost band with assumptions. If discovery only produces moodboards, you bought decoration. If it produces a 90-page spec nobody reads, you bought theater. Aim for a document your future self can build from after a two-week pause.
Founders sometimes compress discovery to “save money” and then spend three times more on rework. A Vietnam team with senior review can move quickly — speed still needs decisions from you. Budget your own calendar as part of MVP cost.
